We grew up with the web. Here’s our story on the left, and the moments that changed how the world goes online on the right.

1992–2000

Before Bit&Bits

Do you remember dial-up?
  1. Bit&BitsThe founders were in preschool.

    The World Wide Web browser becomes available to download from CERN: the big start for the web.
  2. 1994
    World
    Internet hosts reach 4 million, and the first search engines appear: Yahoo, Infoseek and, soon after, Excite.
  3. Bit&BitsThe founders and the first team start browsing the internet, and are amazed by Google’s algorithm.
    2000

    Google announces it has indexed over one billion pages, making it the internet’s largest search engine.
2002–2006

The beginning

Big screens, small websites
  1. Bit&BitsEgyptian Internet Services (EIS) enters the Egyptian market, and work on Bit&Bits begins.

  2. Bit&BitsWe build our first Delphi application, running on an Access database.

    Apple opens the iTunes Store; LinkedIn launches; Skype goes live.
  3. Bit&BitsEIS introduces Bit&Bits.

    Facebook launches; World of Warcraft is released.
  4. Bit&BitsWe build more than 60 websites for our early-bird customers.
    2005

    YouTube is founded; Google acquires Android.
  5. Bit&BitsWe start exploring a new idea everyone is talking about: “the cloud”.

    jQuery is introduced; Twitter (then “Twttr”) launches; Amazon opens AWS. MySpace and Internet Explorer rule the web.
2007–2011

Growing up

The web moves into your pocket
  1. Bit&BitsThe team grows and we move to a bigger office.

    Apple introduces the iPhone; Google announces Android.
  2. 2008

    Apple launches the App Store; GitHub is founded.
  3. 2009

    Bitcoin is introduced; Gmail leaves beta after more than five years.
  4. Bit&BitsWe announce more than 30 service portals.

    Apple launches the iPad; Instagram launches.
  5. Bit&BitsThe revolution and the internet cut-off in Egypt: for a few days we were back in the dark ages.
    2011

    LTE brings faster mobile internet; Microsoft releases Office 365.
2012–2019

A full digital agency

From web company to digital agency
  1. Bit&BitsWe launch a new service line and change who we are: from a web development company to a full digital media experience.

    The year of Facebook; Microsoft introduces Surface; Apple releases the iPad mini.
  2. 2014

    Apple introduces the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch; Google Glass goes on sale; Android 5.0 Lollipop is released.
  3. Bit&BitsOur team expands and we move to a higher-level office, with a new vision: to become one of the biggest digital media agencies in the MENA region.

  4. Bit&BitsWe open our office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to serve clients across the Kingdom.
    2019
2020–now

2020 to today

The next chapter
  1. Bit&BitsCovid hits. We take care of our people with every precaution, work harder, reach our goals, and open our office in the UAE.
